How to Measure Inside & Outside Shutters

Step 1 - Choose Inside or Outside mount

Inside guide

We offer two types of frame for all shutter ranges. L Frames and Z frames L Frames This frame can be fitted anywhere within the recess, either close up to the window, in the middle, or at the front of the recess.

Z Frames A semi recessed frame, which is fitted at the front of the opening. It has a molded edge which overlaps on to the wall which gives a seamless finish. This option allows the panels to fold back 180° flat on the wall either side of the window.

Outside Guide

When taking measurements, remember to include the width of the frame (38mm) left, right, top and bottom (if using a 4 sided frame)

Step 2 - Measure your window

1. Measure width x drop, (as shown in black). Use the smallest dimensions found.
2. If ordering with a midrail, measure from the bottom to the midpoint of where you would like the rail centered. (As shown in blue).
3. For Cafe or Tier on Tier shutters, measure from the bottom up to where the red line indicates. This will be the finished height of the lower panel.

NOTE: Inserting a midrail in a panel can offer flexibility on how you tilt the slats. A midrail can cover a handle or rail on your window or door. A midrail will offer greater strength and stability to taller shutter panels.

Find the smallest dimension by measuring in 3 places for the width and 3 for the height.
